After gaining a degree in Fine Art at Staffordshire University, I subsequently worked in the printing industry as a graphic designer and printer.

I went on to paint murals for private clients for several years as well as being involved in various projects. Over the past two years I have returned to printmaking and painting.

My work tries to evoke the spirit of particular places. I am interested in natural features of landscapes, such as rock formations, and transient ‘finds’ such as beach flotsam. Man-made changes to the land, such as rock carvings, and abandoned objects, hold a particular fascination, as do the traces, tracks and paths left by animals and people.

Wildlife, especially birds, often finds its way into my work. Whilst celebrating the beauty of nature I am also concerned with the detrimental effects on species and landscape caused by human behaviour.

My paintings are mainly in oil, sometimes with collaged elements. Realistic features are incorporated within more abstract schemes of colour and texture.

In my printmaking, I like to explore the intricate, fluid surfaces of collagraphs, building up a variety of differently textured areas. In contrast, the direct cutting into lino blocks produces prints with clean lines and bold shapes.
